Cardiff Island
Cardiff is a small green island far in the east with wide farmland instead of a great fortress. The islanders live closely together in the small village of Roxbury. They love the overall beautiful and quiet blue ocean with its gentle breezes surrounding the island.

The inhabitants are confident that all hope and the dream of a peaceful life after the Great Upheaval were born on Cardiff Island and this thought makes their hearts palpitate. But they have to face that the cruel pirate lord Black Beard was born on Cardiff and this memory of the ancient legend is still present in the minds of the people.

Especially the residents of Exeter Island and Flandria Island use to say that the violent pirate's blood is still pulsating through the veins of Cardiff's inhabitants...
Areas on Cardiff Island
Roxbury
At the very beginning, Roxbury was nothing more than a small village of fishermen. With their passion for farming and fishing, the people were able to live self-sufficiently. Things changed when a large-scale fortress was built on Magnel Island.
As part of the treaty against the pirates, Roxbury was then in charge for being the intermediate port for traders on their way to Magnel. Hence, the dozy village became a bustling trading post, the dock steadily crowded with travellers. Some of them were only passing by, some stayed longer to see the untouched countryside within the island. Although the seniors miss the peace, the young ones enjoy the vivid atmosphere.

Field Area: Weedridge
Most parts of Cardiff comprise of high and rough mountains, so it is hard to find open land for farming. Larksdowns and Weedridge are thus the only plain areas where it is possible to cultivate and harvest.

Recently, a swarm of large bugs came from the forest thicket and started to trouble the peaceful community of Roxbury. Rumours tell gold is hidden in a mysterious den within the mountains, but a horrible devil worker, half human and half badger, is said to reside there. Hence it is considered too dangerous to go there.

Field Area: Larksdowns
Originally called "Skylarks Hill", the area basically was a field where small and harmless animals lived in the ancient times. However, the peace was torn apart when the wild animals unexpectedly came down from the mountainside, devastated the fields and chased the livestock.

Creatures that had never been seen there before suddenly hunted on the fields. A witness reported there were mysterious mushrooms and animals of such great violence incomparable to the behavior of normal animals. The villagers presume the monsters might come from the dangerous Fox Den in the mountain pass, however none of them has been courageous enough to confirm if their perception is true.

Dungeon: Cardiff Abandoned Mine, Fox Den
Every man in Cardiff knows about the den which lies below the biggest mountain of the island. The den itself and the entrance are hidden and hard to find, but in contrary, the dungeon itself is deep and ample. Some even say the dungeon is spread below the whole island, although they hardly ever go inside.

Tales about a sea captain's treasure and about gold from the ancient kingdom hidden in the deepest corner of the den are well-known. Reckless fellers sometimes go there to find that gold, but those who return at all consider still being alive the greatest treasure of all.
A pack of black-footed red foxes claim and defend the dungeon. The only person who ever succeeded in exploring the den reported there was a mysterious wall painting in a big room consisting of stones, but scarcely anybody believed him.

Something is happening there for sure, as lit torches were seen from a distance, but the road to the den is still hard to find and the violent monsters are an additional danger terrifying all potential investigators.
