Magnel Island
Being the adjoining coastal state to Cardiff, Magnel is still completely different. Not only because it used to be significantly bigger, but as well because of its tragic history. The island was discovered a long time before Cardiff, but a volcano's eruption and the ensuing changes in the surface caused a horrible catastrophe.

The bigger part of the island sunk, so nowadays Magnel is as small as Cardiff and the fields are surrounded by steam in mauve shades. People say that due to the influence of the volcano, the whole island has become turbid and dreary.

The royal geologists found out that the volcano of Magnel is now resting, but opportunists changed that conclusion telling everyone the volcano was extinct and safe. The geologists however still monitor the volcano as they hear thundering sounds from the bottom and visible signs of gleaming lav, so they suppose it could erupt anytime.
Areas on Magnel Island
Castle Hall
After the horrible eruption of the volcano, nothing more than small ports for shelter existed on Magnel. The people were scared of the volcano, so they avoided to settle down. The only ones who colonized the desolate countryside were thus Pirates who didn't care about the danger at all. After a while they occupied the small ports and constructed a secret base in a deep valley on the island from where they started to menace the boats that passed Magnel.

As they extended their power, the people began to worry they would unite and threaten the peace, so they decided to subdue the pirates and organized a fleet under the command of the most powerful commander named General Harker. He extinguished the Pirates and established a city with a fortress called Castle Hall at the spot where the Pirates' base had been. Under his command, Castle Hall became a navy post blocking the Pirates' line of communication and for observing the borders.

Most of the people in Castle Hall are soldiers or engaged in business related to the army. Due to Harker's efforts, the Pirates could not regain their strength and power, but those who come to explore the land or Tulach Dungeon should still be wary.
Field Area: Castlefield
A ramp north of Castlehall leads to the field which was originally just plain land around the city. Nowadays however, the land is savaged and wild. Being closer to the volcano, the ground is partly covered by ancient ashes and strange rocks in shades of mauve, sometimes interrupted by hot springs, swamps or steaming gaps.

On the way through the wilderness, broken statues and buildings are the only remains of the ancestors who had accomplished great culture and civilization there. The Royal Historical Academy and the Explorer Guild often sent groups of investigators to this place. However, the research had to be stopped because of the savaged land and the dreadful monsters.

Gigantic spiders and huge bees are living there now, mutilated frogs crawl around the steaming mud. Sometimes, even the trees start to move and threaten the few passionate scholars who still dare to study the land. Fortunately, Admiral Renfield established a small camp for researchers in Castlefield including strong guards, but still no one stays there longer than necessary.
Dungeon: Tulac Dungeon
There was a legend about a dungeon located in the underground below the remains of an ancient castle. It was said to be a magnificent fortress deep inside the mountain inhabited by goblins.

One day, General Harker found some hints about this place and directly went there with a party of investigators. As soon as the mysterious Tulach Dungeon was found, it drew the attention of the whole academic world. General Harker recorded that the underground castle had not been entered for several hundred years, but everything in there still looked like the time had just stopped there.

Corridors surrounded by stones in beautiful colors that reminded him of an emperor's palace, wide carpets in good state were waiting for the visitors and lit candles everywhere completed the impression.

Curious people gathered there to find out more about the place where time had stopped, but the second researching party with General Harker disappeared all of a sudden while darkness began to spread in the underground palace.

The scholars assume Harker had found a hidden passage to another world and when he opened the door, he was murdered by the monsters on the other side. These monsters occupy the palace nowadays which is now called devil's palace. Some even think the opening of the door was the reason why the animals on the field mutated, but no one knows for sure whether all the changes are indeed Harker's fault.
